March 2025 Update
Dear Friends and Partners,
LSU remains committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ by providing education, health care, food, child protection, and discipleship to vulnerable children in Kyajja village. However, financial and environmental challenges require us to rethink our approach to growth and long-term impact.
Recent Updates:
• Education:
23 students have transitioned to secondary school, and a new Head Teacher and staff have joined LSU. Teacher housing construction is progressing, and school registration efforts continue.
• Health & Sanitation:
A severe heatwave has led to increased illnesses, but LSU has strengthened hydration, medical support, and sanitation awareness.
• Agriculture & Feeding:
LSU continues to provide two daily meals, despite challenges from the prolonged dry season.
• Child Protection & Discipleship:
LSU remains dedicated to child welfare through education, partnerships, and spiritual mentorship.
Key Prayer Points:
• Support for our Senior graduates
• Progress on capital projects (teacher housing, student resources)
• LSU Board recruitment to enhance leadership and fundraising
Your continued prayers and financial contributions are vital in ensuring LSU’s long-term impact. Together, we can build a sustainable future for these children.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Semei Ziva

Teacher Impressed with Visit to Lasting Smiles Uganda
On February 13, Ms. Dina Nakabuye, Head Teacher for the Kisowera Secondary School, made her first visit to Lasting Smiles Uganda. Kisowera Secondary School is a primary partner boarding school for the students who qualify for a Lasting Smiles scholarship to this top school.
Attached are a few photos from her visit to Lasting Smiles, as well as a group photo of the LSU students currently enrolled at Kisowera.
Message from Ms. Dina Nakabuye:
Pastor Semei,
Thank you for the opportunity to visit Kyajja.
I have fully enjoyed my day. It has really been a great experience!
Thank you for the vision and all efforts to make it a reality. I will forever credit you for feeding the children before they go to their homes. Thank you for that special kindness!
I have loved the orderliness of the teachers. Their efforts to give their best is visible.
I have been educated in dealing with the Kyajja learners. They have a lot on their backs and need a special kind of attention/understanding if we are to help them benefit from their coming to Kisowera SS (their dream school).
I have also been challenged to look for ways of helping them realize their dreams.
May the Lord help us to assist them.
Dina Nakabuye
