Our Mission

Lasting Smiles was founded in 2016 in Kyajja, one of the poorest communities in the Mukono District in central Uganda.  Our mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ by supporting vulnerable children living in poverty by providing them food security, education, health care, and protection.

In 2019 we worked to establish a 501 (C) (3) in the United States and in 2021 we received our Non-Government Organization (NGO) certification in Uganda.

Lasting Smiles has five key pillars to achieve our mission:

  • Four Ugandan children eating lunch outside

    Child Protection

The provision of a safe environment to protect children from kidnap, abuse, child labor, rape, violence, and defilement.

  • Little Ugandan boy receiving medical treatment

    Health

Improve Health services by establishing a Health Center in Kyajja Community and will work with partners in the health sector on improvements in family health practices.

  • Persons hand touching soil in Uganda

    Agriculture

Establish a sustainable demonstration school farm with the aim of providing food for the school but also train community members on best farming practices, hence promoting economic empowerment.

  • Small Ugandan boy with ash cross on his forehead

    Discipleship

The children and the community members will be drawn to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as the ultimate transforming tool physically and spiritually.

  • Three Ugandan children school uniforms in front of a chalk board

    Education

Quality and inclusive education from Nursery to Secondary level education by promoting enrollment and retention through parents and community engagements. LSU will expand upon its existing Pre-Primary and Primary School adding a Secondary School and occupational training for those students who are now beginning to reach high school age.
